Every three years, the World Water Forum is organized by the World Water Council, in partnership with a host country. This year, for the first time, the 9th World Water Forum will occur in sub-Saharan Africa, in Dakar from March 21-26. Bringing together 30 000 participants from all levels and areas, including politics, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector, the international water community and key decision-makers meet to make long-term progress on global water challenges.
In Senegal, about 20% of the population does not have access to clean water. Since 2012, the Access to Water Foundation has distributed more than 150 million liters of drinking water in rural areas of this country, where water is scarce, fluoridated, polluted, and often salty. In 2021, Astrocast and the Access to Water Foundation have joined forces to deliver free access to drinking water to more than 80 000 people in Senegal by the end of 2022. Mainly located around schools and health points, 150 water points will be connected. Honored to exhibit with the Access to Water Foundation, Astrocast will present its solution integrated in their machines.
Astrocast’s Satellite IoT (SatIoT) connectivity solution allows the Access to Water Foundation to deploy water treatment points in remote and rural areas not covered by local telecom networks. The water machines come with a set of filters including ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. Astrocast’s bidirectional satellite communication module, the Astronode S+, will allow remote monitoring resulting in a significant maintenance cost reduction. The data will also help to evaluate the impact of the project day after day, contributing to the effective fight against diseases related to dirty or polluted water.
Marcel Barat, VP Customer Success & Network Operations, and Jonatan Romero, Head of Customer Service, will attend the event and will be available to discuss these topics and more with you.
