Astrocast Community Day

Astrocast‘s team gathered to clean up the shore of the Geneva Lake, as part of Astrocast Community Day. We destinate this day to create a positive impact in our community and also get together to keep building a strong team.

Once a year, the company offers one day to employees willing to donate their time and effort to a noble cause that will have a positive impact on our society.

The goal is to get involved in our community. That is the reason why this year our team chose to clean one of the most visited beaches in the Lausanne area and the closest to our office.

With the support of My Green Trip – who provided us with cleaning kits that we can keep and re-utilize for future clean-ups – we started collecting garbage. Even if the place looked reasonably clean when we arrived, once the cleaning started the amount of waste kept increasing. To nobody’s surprise, the type of waste that we found the most was cigarette butts, which are incredibly polluting. It can take 18 months to 10 years to decompose. They are also full of toxins, which can leach into the ground and waterways, damaging living organisms that come into contact with them.
